Welcome to wellness challenge Thursdays! That’s a terrible title, yes.
This is a check-in after four days of the 28 Days of Gratitude challenge I set for myself. Today might be day three for you if you started on Tuesday when I mentioned the challenge in this post. Since Sunday I have been writing every night the things I have been thankful for each day. Here’s a brief summary of all the things I’ve written down:
- Friends that are like family
- Getting to relax for a day before life explodes into chaos
- The lack of wind during a really, really cold day (If you’re from a wintery climate, you get what I’m talking about.)
- Having an awesome job that allows me to put together my passions for music, dance, and spreading joy
I’m learning a similar lesson from this challenge that I learned from writing my year in review post. The lesson is that reflection is very useful. By reflecting on the day, I’m helping solidify some memories that I normally wouldn’t have thought about again. The time spent in reflection also becomes a calm moment, a moment during which I can just sit and think and be with myself. Reflection forces me to slow down and, for lack of a more original phrase, smell the roses.
We’ll see if I continue to feel all the warm fuzzies as I finish off 24 more days of gratitude, or if I find it to be a hassle trying to remember to write something down every night.
Is anyone out there taking on this challenge with me? How are you doing? Have you done something like this already? Leave a comment! I would love to hear from you.
