We’re just a couple days into 2019. Everything still feels fresh, resolutions still seem attainable, hopes are still high, and the year is still one ginormous opportunity waiting to be taken.
What can you bring to 2019 that will make sure those positive feelings stick around for the whole year?
Easier said than done, right? Until you legitimately feel more confident in who you are and what your dreams and goals are, fake that confidence! Faking the confidence will trick other people into thinking you have it together, and it will trick yourself into thinking you have it together! But use that confidence to believe in yourself and to give yourself the gumption to bet on yourself.
Attitude (a good one)
Nobody likes negative-Nellies. Sass-factor will only get you so far. And being just plain rude is just a plain bad idea. So maneuver the next year with a good attitude! That means being friendly, positive, helpful, and open to whatever opportunities life may throw at you.
If you want to save up for a trip, remind yourself of that every single time you hover your cursor over that “Add to shopping cart” icon. If you want to get that promotion you’ve been eyeing for months, make a game plan, act it out and practice that conversation. If you want to learn how to play the guitar, you need to bring that instrument out and actually practice instead of forgetting about it two weeks after purchasing it. Focus up. Let your goals for this year be with you always. If you forget about them, they fade away until it’s suddenly December again and you feel like you haven’t accomplished anything.
With all that focus stuff from above in mind, you need to be able to adapt. Maybe your goals need to take a back seat to health or family issues. Maybe your goals will morph and grow into something different (not worse) based on your changing situation. I believe the most successful people are the ones who know how to turn a situation to their advantage, rather than stay firmly rooted in their original idea, pushing against the change until something breaks. If you can adapt, you can make the best of nearly anything!
Those are the 4 (not so little) things you should bring with you to make 2019 the best year yet! Lots of confidence, a good attitude, a little focus, and the ability to adapt. With that toolkit, you ought to be able to make 2019 into whatever you want it to be.
