In case you weren’t sure, I’m a little in love with my hometown. Saskatoon has a lot of personality and a lot of unique ways to have a great date night. Here are some of my favourites!
Dinner and a play.
Wait a minute! I know this is pretty standard for a date night, but hold on. Here’s how Saskatoon’s is different. You can experience one of the many locally owned restaurants in the downtown or Riversdale areas and – depending on the weather – walk down to Persephone Theatre and take in a show! Both the restaurant and theatre scenes in Toon Town are flourishing these days!
Walk by the river.
The South Saskatchewan River runs through Saskatoon and there are a multitude of walking paths around it. Pick up an ice cream from Homestead’s or the Bus Stop and you’re set for a pleasant walk. You might even stumble upon free dance classes on some nights!
Breakfast and a walk.
The Broadway Café serves a great breakfast and takes you back in time with its 1950s décor. After breakfast, wander along Broadway Avenue and take in everything it has to offer – art, bakeries, local stores, whatever!
Skate at the Bessborough.
Every winter, there is a skating rink set up next to the Bessborough hotel. Different coloured lights get strung up in the trees and it becomes a truly romantic setting. After skating, you could grab a hot chocolate across the street at Scarlet Restaurant.
Visit a local festival.
I mention some of my favourite Saskatoon festivals in this post [Saskatoon Bucket List]. They’re a great way to build memories with a date, whether it’s trying new foods at Taste of Saskatchewan, flirting with heat stroke at the Ex, or freezing your toes off at the walk-through night at the Enchanted Forest.
Like I said, Saskatoon has a lot to offer. So why not give one of these dates a try and let me know what you thought! Or if you have other suggestions, comment below!
