You’ve found it! My first post!
Guys, I have been agonizing over this post. First I decided it needed to be a masterpiece, in order to give this blog a good start. Then I decided, “Heather, chill out. Just write anything so you can just say you’ve started.” So I wrote a generic piece on free and fun things to do in the summer. It was called “7 Free and Fun Things to Do in the Summer.” Genius, I know. But then I realised that is not what I want to write about!
But what DO I want to write about?
I think I’ll jump into sharing a point I’ve been pondering for some time now. If you’ve read my About Me! page, then you’ll know that I am a recent graduate from university. This is the time where people are expecting me to get a full time job and start the process of becoming a real-life adult.
That sounds like a great idea. I should probably do that.
But I get the sense that people expect me to make my way in the world by following the same beaten path others have taken before me. Finished school? Start your career. English degree? Get a desk job where you write. Don’t want a desk job yet? Go get a masters.
And while that’s great for some people, that’s not what I want. I want to follow these crazy passions of mine. I want to pursue my creative hobbies. I want to live a life that’s different from day to day. That’s part of why I’m here now.
Maybe this blog will be a total flop. At least I learned a ton from it and had a great time exploring and pushing my limits. But maybe it will be great. Maybe I’ll be able to make a career out of my passion and creativity and joy for life. I feel like if there’s a chance those crazy dreams can come true, I have to give it a shot.
So here I go! Shot-giving!
I hope you guys have found it in you to follow your dreams and passions, no matter how obscure or far away they seem! Please share any passions you have that you hope to pursue soon or have been able to pursue!
