Maybe I’m a little slow with this post considering there’s only a month left of summer, but I think we all have a few more road trips in us. And how do you pass the time on a road trip? Why, with road trip games, of course! Here are some road trip games I like to play.
The World Game
We love to hate this game, but it’s a classic. Everyone takes turns naming a country, and the next person in line names a country that begins with the letter that the last country ended with. For example, if someone names Italy, the next person needs to name a country that starts with the letter Y, like Yemen! And then the next person would need to name a country that starts with the letter N. Variations of this game include city names, provinces or states, animals, or literally anything you can think of.
20 Questions
I think we’ve all played this game at some point in our lives. Someone thinks of an animal, vegetable or mineral, and the rest of the car has 20 questions to figure out what they’re thinking of. On the last trip I was on, we opened it up to other categories. We would guess actors, books, movies, etc.
Build A Song
Do you remember that Friends episode where the gang is chilling out at Coffee Perk and they slowly break into song? Pretty much that. Someone starts with a bass line, someone else joins in with some percussion, add a guitar line, someone else could sing a high melody. It’s goofy and can get extremely hilarious.
DJ
This is a guessing game. You need an iPod for this one. Take turns picking songs (start from the middle of the song to make it extra tricky) and the first person to correctly guess the song title gets a point. Bonus points for guessing the artist’s name, too!
You’re all set for a non-boring road trip! Share your favourite road trip games in the comments section, and happy travels!
