We’re halfway through summer in Saskatoon and I feel like there’s so much I still want to do before – dare I say it – winter comes back! And maybe you could do with a reminder of all the awesome things to do during a Saskatoon summer! Here’s the Saskatoon Summer Bucket List!
Spend a day at an outdoor pool
Pack up a swimsuit, frisbee, picnic lunch, sunscreen, and spend the day at the pool in the sun! The pools are only open a couple months a year, so you need to use them when you can! I love a good swim and then drying off in the sun. It really means summer when you can spend a day relaxing like this.
Walk by the river
The South Saskatchewan River is arguably the most aesthetically appealing part of Saskatoon, and with good reason. A walk down the river will show you beautiful greenery, wildlife, interesting houses, and a peek into the downtown scene.
Ice cream at the Bus
The Bus is an iconic shop in Saskatoon. It sells primarily ice cream from the inside of a London-style red double decker bus. I have to get at least one ice cream there every summer, but more is ideal.
Visit the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park and Zoo
The snow is gone, the animals are out, and it’s far more comfortable strolling through the zoo in the warm weather. A visit to the zoo is a must during a Saskatoon summer. You can also spend a day in the park there where you can have your own barbecue lunch!
Have a drink on a patio
Again, these aren’t open all year round, so the best patios in Saskatoon are prime real estate for hanging out and enjoying a cool drink! But many of them have a great view from a rooftop.
Watch lindy hop or salsa dancing at River Landing
There are a couple dance clubs in Saskatoon that host dance lessons and a dance out by the river. It’s so much fun to grab a seat and watch. You can even jump in and join in the fun if you’re feeling brave!
Take in the summer festivals
Saskatoon has so many amazing festivals during the summer! I try to hit as many as I can. My favourites are Jazz Fest, Taste of Saskatchewan, and Folkfest. All of these festivals host outdoor venues, taking advantage of the summer weather!
Growing up in Saskatoon, I’ve always looked forward to the summer season. Hot days, beautiful scenery, so many things to do – there’s no way to not have fun during a summer in Saskatoon.

Sending you happy summer vibes!
